Onyx Reserve hit the market late in 2000 and became an instant must have cigar for aficionados. The magazine Cigar Insider gave the Onyx Reserve Mini Belioso an outstanding 94 rating, one of the highest ratings from the magazine to this date. This beautiful box pressed cigar is an absolute treat for lovers of maduro cigars. The Onyx Reserve is a remix of the original Onyx blend, aiming for a richer flavor and fuller body. The filler is a three-country combination from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Peru. Aged longer to bring out the flavors in the tobacco. The binder is fine extra-fermented Nicaraguan. Polishing things off is the Connecticut Broadleaf leaf, aged until the tobacco exhibits the dark textures of a chocolately maduro wrapper. Before you even take a match to the cigar, the oily wrapper leaves a sweet taste in the air, on your fingers, and on your lips. The smoke is decidedly medium, not too strong, but definitely not light. The Connecticut Broadleaf gets down to business with its nutty flavor toned against coffee.
