Macanudo is America’s best selling and most popular cigar brand. The line has a Jamaican origin under General Cigar, but now is produced in the Dominican Republic. The brand brought General Cigar to fame and their unrivaled success when it was released. And is heralded for its mild flavor and superb consistency.
In the last thirty years, Macanudo has only released their premium Vintage cigars six times. The blend is bound by the highest quality leaves of the ultra-rare Connecticut Shade tobacco, which is then aged for three or more years before being hand-rolled in limited quantities. The wrapper is Mexican, as is the filler but with Dominican tobacco in the mix. Like the binder tobacco, the wrapper and filler are also aged many extra years to create an all-around superb cigar.
The extra fermentation pays off with a dedicated sweetness in the wrapper and the mellow smoke. You’ll start with a pale woodsy flavor, which develops into dark chocolate and thick tobacco. And because the Vintage cigars have the same consistent, mild flavor you expect from Macanudo, the experience won’t deviate much. But that’s why you are smoking a Macanudo in the first place.
Macanudo cigars are perfect for the beginning smoker and the mild aficionado alike. This is a cigar for the celebration of life and accomplishment, where the cigar itself won’t get in the way of the event. The last Vintage release was a decade in 2000 and 1997 before that. Their numbers are starting to dwindle, so don’t hesitate on such a fine cigar. You won’t regret your decision! |
