The La Gloria Cubana cigar story and history could be made into a fascinating movie. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo left Cuba in 1959. Ernesto was not only a Cuban Senator, he was a tobacco grower and he brought his tobacco knowledge and the Cuban seeds to Miami and began producing cigars in the heart of little Havana, in 1968. In 1980 his son Ernesto Jr. developed a special blend using Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos and began producing cigars in Miami, as well as the Dominican Republic. Ernesto Jr.''s version of the La Gloria Cubana cigar has a bold and rich flavor and once it was introduced, the cigars became a sought after pleasure in the Miami area.
Little Havana’s secret is now an international favorite. Cigar smokers from around the world buy the 23 different sizes of La Gloria Cubana cigars in both the Natural and Maduro. La Gloria Cubana cigars are made with an aged Ecuadoran wrapper and with Nicaraguan as well as Dominican binder and filler. Every La Gloria cigar is filled with a rich and delightfully robust taste. La Gloria Cubana also offers the Serie R cigars for aficionados who want more of a full bodied taste. The R cigar was introduced in 1999 and then Ernesto Jr. introduced the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 Serie R cigars that same year. The No 7, which came a little later is a tribute to his father. The Serie R comes in 4 sizes. The full bodied flavor comes from a blend of long Nicaraguan and Dominican filler and an excellent Nicaraguan binder, as well as an aged and extra flavor filled Ecuadoran wrapper. |
