When describing steaks and cigars, rare is a good thing. Like others sticks in the La Gloria Cubana Serie R line, the 2004 is a strong and full-bodied maduro. Unlike the rest of the line, however, La Gloria produced this stick in limited quantities at its El Credito cigar factor. Just 500 humidors were manufactured.
La Gloria Cubana Serie R (2004) celebrated the Sixth Anniversary of the Serie R line. A torpedo, it was created in the same genus as the Serie R, but with even more attention to detail, as if such a thing were possible.
This cigar has a Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. The binder is Nicaraguan and it all comes wrapped in an Ecuadoran shade. With a ring gauge of 52, this is a cigar that demands attention. The construction is exquisite. The shade wrapper is slightly oily to the touch and veinless.
You’ll notice that the draw is perfect. The heavy smoke has a strong scent of leather and spice. Believe it or not, the flavor is even more complex than the rest of the Serie R line. Right away you’ll detect a creamy, peppery flavor, with a hint of butter. Then notes of cedar and nuts, followed by a crispy smooth finish. |
