There’s something to be said about knowing where you come from, being able to trace your roots. La Gloria Cubana Figurado is a cigar with serious roots. Founded in 1865 Cuba, the Glory of Cuba or La Gloria Cubana, actually stopped producing cigars after the revolution. Fortunately for us, tobacco grower Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Sr., left Cuba in 1959 and started producing the line in Miami at the El Credito Cigar Factory. Back in Cuba, La Gloria Cubana resumed production in the 1960s. The two lines have been produced in parallel since then.
The Figurado is one of the top cigars in the La Gloria Cubana arsenal. Rated 91 by Cigar Aficionado in 1997, this hand rolled beauty provides a truly stellar smoking experience. Both the filler and binder consist of a fermented Dominican and Nicaraguan blend, aged in cedar chests. Its wrapper is an aged and flavor filled Ecuadoran.
La Gloria Cubana Figurado is a medium to full-bodied perfecto. The draw is easy and it burns evenly with a strong ash. There is a wide variety of flavors, cedar, creamy milk chocolate and spiced coffee. All of the flavors are surprisingly well balanced and you enjoy the smooth earthy, slightly nutty finish.
If you enjoy the Figurado, visit Miami to trace its roots. El Credito Cigar Factory, now run by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr., offers free tours. |
