La Flor Dominicana Dbl Ligero |

La Flor Dominicana recommends that you eat prior to attempting this smoke. It may seem like a marketing ploy, but actually it''''s not bad advice. La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero was named for the double measure of Dominican tobacco in its filler and binder. Ligero refers to leaves from the top of the tobacco plant, know for having a strong flavor. Add a veiny, dark Ecuadorian wrapper and what you’ve got is a full-bodied cigar worthy of following that Porterhouse dinner.
Introduced in 2003, Cigar Insider gave this toro cigar a 90 rating. Take one out of the box and inhale the strong peppery scent. Don’t worry if you sneeze. The Double Ligero is meant to be spicy. What may surprise you though are the more complicated variety of flavors experienced after the first draw. After the pepper, there is a noticeable leather flavor, with a woody, slightly earthy overtone. It’s strong, but not bitter. The finish is smooth, nutty and sweet. You’ll enjoy the slow, even burn and the ash is light and firm.
The appeal of the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero is readily apparent for more experienced smokers, but newbies may want to give this cigar a try as well. It’s a great value for the quality and not so strong as to be distasteful. |
