This regal cigar takes its composite name from the sword given King Arthur by the Lady of the Lake and the date of the famed Battle of Hastings in which William the Conqueror led the Normans to defeat England''''s Saxon rulers and usurp them - things that are not actually related but both ring with the clash of swords and the trumpets of royal procession.
This brand came about partly through the input of customers themselves, when the maker sent samples of blends to people in their customer base and asked them to select one, participating in the creation of a brand. Just as the name is composed of elements of different eras but in a unified spirit, the cigar hails from many regions, having a Cameroon wrapper, a Connecticut broadleaf binder and tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Honduras(where they are crafted).
This blend creates a fairly mild, pleasant and full-bodied flavor, with several varieties named for Arthurian figures: Merlin, the smallest at 5 1/4", also the simplest flavor, Lancelot, 7 1/4", fuller and silkier in flavor, Galahad, 6 3/4", deepest and earthiest of the lot, and of course King Arthur, 6 1/4", the most well-rounded in taste. |
