The Cuesta Ray Centro Fino Sun Grown blend is robust and rich, almost as rich as the history of Cuesta Ray itself. When founded, the company was one of the few cigar factories in the United States. And for a time, Cuesta Ray had exclusive distribution to the Spanish Royalty, a testament to the brand outstanding craftsmanship and exquisite blends. Eventually, the company was sold to J.C. Newman, the best in the business, and moved to the Dominican Republic.
Centro Fino Sun Grown is wrapped with sun grown tobacco, free of protection from sunlight, resulting in a strongly flavored leaf. Denoted by its namesake, the attractive wrapper is Ecuadorian Centro Fino, meaning it utilized the “fine center” of the tobacco leaf. The binder and filler are both grown in the Dominican Republic. And the filler in particular is aged five years before being used.
From first burn to last draw, you’ll enjoy the thicker, sweeter taste from the sun grown tobacco. This is a full-bodied, full-flavored smoke, one of the finest to be had. The initial draws will give you mild woody tones. Then the blend will take on an earthy tea flavor towards the middle. Throughout, you’ll taste roasted nuts and a slight woodsy taste. This cigar sits well in the morning after breakfast, or in the evening after a mild dinner.
