Cohiba is a brand of fine cigars produced in the Dominican Republic. The name dates back to the second voyage of Christopher Columbus when the Spanish crew first observed the natives of Hispaniola smoking cured leaves of tobacco that they called "Cohiba." The Dominican Cohiba cigar was first produced by Diaz y Cia in 1978. In the 1990s, the blend of tobacco used to produce Cohiba cigars was reformulated into the varieties available today.
The 7 x 49 Churchill features a woody taste and a dry light to medium bodied smoke. Coronas feature wrappers produced in the Cameroon and a creamy smooth smoke. They are available in the regular 5 1/8 x 42, the 6 1/2 x 42 Corona Especiale, and the 4 x 52 Corona Minor. The Lonsdale Grande has coffee, citrus, and pepper flavors and comes in a 6 1/4 x 47 size. The Robusto is a very powerful blend of tobacco with hints of cocoa, pepper and floral essences and is available in a 5 x 49 and a 4 3/4 x 47 size. Cohiba cigars are also available in miniature 3 7/8 x 24 sizes. Most Cohiba cigars are available individually, in five packs, or in boxes of 20 or 25. No matter the variety, the Cohiba Red Dot brand is a high quality cigar along with cohibas other lines, the Cohiba Black and Cohiba XV. All are available in various sizes as well.
