Created by Carlos Fuente Jr the Anejo is one of the rarest cigars around and comes from the new cigar capital of the world the Dominican Republic. Blended with the very best in Dominican tobaccos and wrapped in a dark maduro leaf that is aged like the cigars themselves in cognac barrels to give them a rich, fragrant taste like no other. The desire was to produce an elite cigar that leaves a lasting impression on the palate and it accomplishes the aspiration perfectly.

The Anejo cigar is meant for true aficionados of the finer things in life. It is usually only made available to celebrate Christmas and Father's Day making it one of the most elusive and exclusive brands of cigar anywhere in the world. The "SS Shark" (no. 77) is the most popular size. The "Shark" is the only Anejo cigar not popularly known by its ring gauge but rather by a name designated from a popular family memory. On a trip to Sea World in Florida Carlito's children noticed how some of the sharks in the tank had pectoral fins resembled a set of sevens on their backs. Thus both the number "77" for the fins, and the nickname "Shark" came into being. The "SS" beginning of this mild cigar's name came from Wayne Suarez, Carlito's brother-in-law who shared a love of a particular blend of tobacco with Cigar Aficionado owner, Marvin Shanken giving the 'Shark' the "SS" designation for Shanken and Suarez.

All of the other Anejo cigars are labeled according to the gauge of their width and each of the torpedo shaped Anejos are wonderful as an after dinner enjoyment or late evening relaxation smoke. They conjure images of wealth and opulence with their aromatic smell and long lasting flavor. The taste is full of molasses, honey and rich wood that is soothing to the soul. They are a powerful cigar that can be a bit overwhelming to the novice smoker but given time to adjust they quickly become a treasured addition to any humidor.
